The Climate Dress senses the CO2 concentration in the nearby surroundings, then accordingly creates diverse light patterns varying from slow, regular light pulsations to short and hectic. Backbone of the Climate Dress is an intricate embroidery design by Forster Rohner Textile Innovations. Made up of conductive threads, the embroidery becomes more than an elegant statement. It “powers the dress” by conveying electricity and computer information through the garment. Different light patterns are staged as dramatic “micro events” embedded into the conductive embroidery.
For Forster Rohner Textile Innovations the Climate Dress has been an opportunity to investigate new areas of embroidery. It marks a milestone in the development of our textile lighting technology e-broidery®. The industrialization of the production process of soft circuits offers new possibilities to work with intelligent textiles.
